Sci-fi drama Humans gears up for production

Channel 4 logo Prolific shingle Kudos is preparing for cameras to roll on their next major drama, Humans, which gets underway next week for Channel 4 and Xbox Entertainment Studios in the US.

In an unusual co-production deal between Channel 4 and Microsoft's gaming platform, the 8 x 60 episode run will share a 2015 premiere broadcast window on both Channel 4 and the Xbox platform in the US.

The drama, which has AMC as a co-production partner, is based on the hit Swedish sci-fi series of 2012, Real Humans (Äkta människor), and is set in a parallel present where the must-have accessory is the Synth, a robotic servant eerily close to a human being. In the crossover between reality and technology, the lines become blurred and the consequences are grave when a Synth is found to be harbouring a dark secret…

Humans has been written by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley and is made in association with Matador Films, who worked on the original with Sveriges Television.

The executive producers for Kudos are Jane Featherstone and Derek Wax who work alongside Matador's Henrik Widman and Lars Lundström. Chris Fry produces.
