Channel 5 is back on the debate

Hot on the heels of The Big Benefits Row, Channel 5 has commissioned a two-hour studio debate tackling the subject of immigration in Britain. Produced by ITN Productions, The Big British Immigration Row: Live will feature a mix of opinions from MP's to immigrants.

It's no surprise the broadcaster has given the greenlight - The Big Benefits Row: Live amassed 2.13 million viewers and an 8.65% share - beating Channel 4's conclusion to celebrity challenge series The Jump.

The heated debate that was The Big Benefits Row, which aired on Monday (3 February) from The Hospital Club Studios in London, featured a panel of well-known faces - including acid-tongued and ex-Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins. Exact names haven't been confirmed for the immigration debate, but no doubt producers will pick a panel that will guarantee plenty of waving fingers, screeches and cheers from the studio audience.

Commenting on the commission, Channel 5 director of programming Ben Frow said: "The success of The Big Benefits Row: Live shows how much people want to talk about these issues and hear a range of views. This is a subject that attracts enormous controversy and with The Big British Immigration Row: Live, Channel 5 is taking the lead on topics that our viewers really care about."
