New brooms at ITV drama

Jane HudsonITV drama’s commissioning team is changing, with new hires announced by ITV’s director of drama Steve November.

Jane Hudson (pictured) is joining the broadcaster as head of continuing drama, with Charlie Hampton taking up the role of commissioning editor, drama. The two appointments take effect from the summer, reporting to November.

The two will join Victoria Fea, who has been in place since May as controller of drama.

Hudson is coming across from Kudos, where her producer credits include Law and Order: UK and Hustle. She had previously worked at Shed Media, where she produced Waterloo Road, and Tiger Aspect, where she worked on Robin Hood. Her earlier career included producing multiple episodes of Casualty, including the 20th anniversary episode, and script editing on Coronation Street and Hollyoaks.

Hampton’s current position at Company Pictures has seen her produce series six and seven of Wild at Heart, including the feature length finale. Her script editing credits, also for Company, include George Gently and Shameless. Prior to that, she worked at a number of indies, including Red Production Company and Shed Productions.

November said of the new blood: “I am delighted that Jane and Charlie will be joining the drama commissioning team and bringing their considerable experience of drama production and development to ITV. I know that we now have the right team in place to build on the current strength of ITV drama and to take it into an exciting future.”
