Major new Hollyood version of Dracula
A major new Hollywood re-imagining of the Dracula legend is to shoot in Northern Ireland, starring Luke Evans and Sarah Gadon.
Directed by Gary Shore, the feature will film from August to November in Belfast and other locations in Northern Ireland. The project is from Universal Pictures and producer Michael De Luca.
Northern Ireland Screen, funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund, has awarded the film £1.65m production funding which is estimated to deliver £15m expenditure on local goods and services.
Joe Caracciolo, executive producer of the film, said: “Filming Dracula in Northern Ireland allows us to capture the extraordinary beauty and topography that resemble the European backdrop in which this story takes place. We are very much looking forward to bringing Dracula to Northern Ireland. It makes good financial sense, given Northern Ireland Screen’s film incentive programme, the favourable exchange rate, and an impressive local infrastructure that is well suited for this type of project.”
