From PI: Paula Milne's Cold War thriller set for July

BBC Two logoA feature length espionage thriller is in the pipeline from Slim Film + Television as part of BBC Two’s season of drama and documentaries exploring the Cold War.

Multiple award-winning screenwriter Paula Milne has written Legacy, adapted from the novel by Alan Judd. It centres on a young spy, Charles Thoroughgood, who discovers dark truths about his father’s past. Milne and Judd are also executive producing.

The drama comes from Slim Film + Television, the independent production company started by Simon Crawford Collins, formerly of Kudos. Crawford Collins is executive producer on Legacy, along with Lucy Richer for the BBC.

Pete Travis directs, Rob Bullock produces, and Rebecca Ferguson of Slim Film + TV is script executive. The four week shoot gets underway in early July.

Milne said:  “Legacy falls well within the genre of the British spy thriller but has an extraordinary personal twist to it which made it really irresistible for me. For what is espionage if not betrayal at the most fundamental level of human interactions? When that occurs within a family… it's dynamite!"
