ITV has completed its first stage of migration from Granada Studios to MediaCityUK. The move has been marked by the first transmission of ITV’s regional news programme, Granada Reports.

The ITV news bulletin broadcast from the new studio in Orange Tower for the first time last night (25 March 2013). Designed by commercial programme provider ID:SR, the building is based over 62,000 sq ft, and features a shooting ability of 360 degrees.

Five hundred staff members have already relocated to MediaCityUK, including The Jeremy Kyle Show and CITV, factual and drama departments. Coronation Street is still based at Granada Studios, Quay Street, but will move to a purpose built set next to the Imperial War Musuem at a ‘later date’.

Adam Crozier, chief executive, ITV plc said: “Our move to a new, modern, fit for purpose base in MediaCityUK is vital in enabling us to focus on growing our national and international production and broadcasting business.

“We have been the biggest original content provider in the region for over half a century. Joining this creative hub outside of London ensures the region is not only an important part of ITV’s history, it’s also a hugely important part of our future”.
