Development scheme for writers, producers and directors now open for applications

A nationwide film development scheme aiming to form and support teams of writers, producers and directors within the UK film industry, is now open for applications. Managed by Screen Yorskhire and funded by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, the 10 month Triangle 2013 programme will feature a mentoring stage and a pitching session in February 2014.

The aim of Triangle 2013 is to find and help teams develop, that can not only make a feature film together, but may go on to establish an enduring working relationship.

The scheme specifically encourages those seeking new creative collaborations, whether experienced or not, though track record will be taken into account in assessment. In addition, an essential part of the programme is a staged selection process, and only those teams and projects that demonstrate the capability and understanding of what is required to get a feature film made will progress at each stage.

The bulk of the programme will take place in the North of England, and support, although limited, is available towards accommodation and travel costs.

Writers or writer/directors wishing to apply need to act fast, as the deadline for applications is 15 March 2013. Up to 40 successful writers and writer/directors will attend a virtual one-to-one story development session with industry mentors on 9 April 2013, from which 12 writers will be selected to form the core of the teams.

The deadline for producers and directors is 26 April 2013. The 12 selected writers (or writer/directors) and up to 36 producers and directors will be invited to the launch event in Sheffield on 10 - 12 June. Accommodation will be provided for those that need it the nights of 9 - 11 June.
