Hollywood superstar Robert Downey Jr. has picked up the rights to The Entire History of You, one of the episodes from the first series of Charlie Brooker’s acclaimed Black Mirror.

It is reported the actor will adapt the script for the big screen, and beat off competition from George Clooney to acquire the rights.

Penned by Peep Show’s Jesse Armstrong, The Entire History of You was set in a future where everyone had a memory chip implanted in their brain.

Starring Toby Kebbell (Dead Man’s Shoes) and directed by Brian Welsh, the Channel 4 drama was one of three hour long episodes created by Charlie Brooker (also executive producer). The series was produced by Endemol’s Zeppotron and first aired on 4 December 2011.

The first series of Black Mirror was critically acclaimed and has already been sold to 21 countries around the world.

Be Right Back - the first instalment of series two of Black Mirror aired last night on Channel 4.
