Mr Selfridge commissioned for second series

ITV’s period drama Mr Selfridge has been commissioned for a second series. Produced by ITV Studios, the ten-episode run will start filming in Greater London and Kent from April, and will TX in 2014.

Starring Entourage’s Jeremy Piven, the drama focuses on Harry Gordon Selfridge (played by Piven), the man behind the famous department store.

The first series received a peak episode audience of 9.4 million, currently averaging 8.5 million viewers.

British historian Juliet Gardiner comes on board the new series, acting as historical adviser, alongside Lindy Woodhead, author of Shopping, Seduction and Mr Selfridge. Woodhead also worked on the first series as advisor on retail history.

Mr Selfridge was commissioned by acting director of drama commissioning Steve November. Cherry Gould will series produce, alongside executive producers Kate Lewis, Andrew Davies, Kate Brooke and Kate O’Riordan. Anthony Byrne, director of three of the episodes in series one, will return to direct the first of the new episodes.
