Double Negative creates film production arm

  • News

Double Negative, the London based VFX specialist behind films such as The Dark Knight Rises and The Bourne Legacy, has launched a film production arm, Double Negative Films. The company is teaming up with Pinewood Shepperton and Apollo Productions to form the venture.

The move aims to develop Double Negative’s ambitions across a range of film production activities, including financing. Alex Hope, MD of Double Negative said: "With VFX being such a vital story-telling partner in so many of today's movies, production is a very logical next step in furthering our lead role within the British film industry." He added: "Our collaboration with Steve Norris [Apollo Productions] and Pinewood Studios will allow us to build on this heritage and enhance the service that we're able to offer to the independent film industry."

Ivan Dunleavy, chief executive of Pinewood Shepperton said: "We are delighted that Double Negative has come on board to help drive forward this venture. With Pinewood's reputation in the studio sector, Double Negative's in the post sector and Steve Norris' experience gained on both sides of the Atlantic, I am confident we will be able to help productions make first-class content in the U.K."

As well as working on Hollywood blockbusters such as the upcoming Superman film Man of Steel, Double Negative has also worked on a plethora of British films, including Shaun of the Dead, Attack the Block and Billy Elliot.

Apollo Productions acts as a co-producer and a production services company, and was founded in 2011 by ex-Framestore MD of Film Steve Norris.
