Amber’s Molly Moon starts shooting in London

Amber Entertainment”s film adaptation of Georgia Byng”s best-selling book Molly Moon”s Incredible Book of Hypnotism has just started filming in London. Entitled Molly Moon, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Dominic Monaghan, Lesley Manville, Emily Watson, Ben Miller, Celia Imrie, Anne-Marie Duff, Sadie Frost and Joan Collins while Raffey Cassidy will star as heroine Molly.

The film is being directed by Christopher N. Rowley with Georgia Byng, Lawrence Elman and Ileen Maisel producing. The script was written by Rowley and Byng with additional input from Chris Hurford and Tom Butterworth. The London shoot is expected to last seven weeks.

Producer David Heyman originally acquired the feature rights to Molly Moon a decade ago, but that option lapsed. The rights were later picked up by Maisel, a former New Line Cinema exec who went on to co-found Amber with Mark Ordesky, Jane Fleming and Lawrence Elman. All told Byng has written five Molly Moon books though the current project is based on the first in the series.
