Indie Nutopia Reshuffles Team After Franses Departure

 

Following the departure of Nutopia managing director Laura Franses, the indie production company she founded with former BBC exec Jane Root has announced a number of high profile management changes across its UK operations.
 
Helena Tait has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer from Head of Production with immediate effect while former Deputy Head of Production Josh Wilkins will now become Head of Production.  Joining the company is Nav Raman, a former C4 commissioning editor who will now take up the role of Executive Producer and Director of Development.
 
Acting Managing Director Carl Griffin, another recent arrival, said each one of these execs: “brings phenomenal expertise and experience in developing and producing programming with high production values.  Nutopia now has an extraordinary wealth of experience across all disciplines – making us second to none in the creation of groundbreaking and ambitious content for international audiences.” Root continues in her current role as chief executive officer.
 
Nutopia deals primarily in high end factual production. Its most recent commission (March 2012) was The 80s” for National Geographic US. An event series, The 80s” will examine how one decade helped shape what we are today: culturally, politically, technologically…and financially. It will be executive produced for National Geographic Channel by Lynn Sadofsky; vice president of production is Kim Woodard; executive vice president of programming is Michael Cascio.
