CBBC has commissioned a drama series set in Jacqueline Wilson’s fictional children’s home ‘The Dumping Ground’, familiar to millions of viewers from CBBC dramas ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker’ and ‘Tracy Beaker Returns’.

The commission from Salford-based CBBC Productions will delve into the lives of young people in care, with dilemmas and dramas explored in 13 x 30 min episodes.

‘Tracy Beaker Returns’ producer Gina Cronk is exec producer of the series, which starts filming in Newcastle in June.

Leading writers including Elly Brewer, who worked on three series of ‘Tracy Beaker Returns’, will also work on the drama. Damian Kavanagh, Controller, CBBC (though soon to move to Channel 4) said: "We're delighted to be able to continue to tell stories from this world. There’s a talented team ready to create this new series, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results.”
