Island Pictures Unveils Du Maurier Adaptation
, Dominic Minghella and Sarah Beardsall’s indie production company, has gone into production on a feature-length version of Daphne du Maurier's 1957 suspense novel The Scapegoat.
ITV and Content Media Corporation have provided financial backing for the film, a psychological thriller about a man who meets his perfect double and takes over his life. The film will premiere on ITV1 in April 2012, followed by a worldwide theatrical distribution to be managed by Content Media.
The film stars Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters) and Eileen Atkins (Cranford, Cold Mountain). The screenplay is by Charles Sturridge
, who will also direct the film. The film, which will shoot on location in London in November 2011, will be produced by Beardsall (casting: Talented Mr. Ripley, The Parent Trap) and Minghella (Robin Hood, Doc Martin).
