E20's Online Audience Surges For Series 3

Halfway through series three, EastEnders online spin-off E20 has exceeded 1.2 million views across BBC Online and BBC Three, according to the BBC

The latest run of the show, which targets younger audiences, started on 20 September. To date, it has seen a 50% growth in the online audience.

Commenting on that growth, E20 producer Deborah Sathe said: "I am thrilled to see E20 has sustained its position as a front runner in online drama. With more people watching via tablets and computers, it is an exciting time for multiplatform drama."

To accompany the third E20 series, BBC Drama and Learning joined forces on a regional schools tour, giving E20's audience the support and skills to create and develop their own stories online. Pupils were encouraged to write short scenes based on given scenarios in line with the PSHE curriculum. They then performed, filmed and edited their work with Modupe Adeyeye (EastEnders and E20 actress) helping to act out scenes. The work was screened, followed by a Q&A session with the BBC team.

Sarah Miller, BBC Learning commissioner, said: "The tour was a terrific opportunity to deliver powerful face to face workshops, giving students and teachers the opportunity to develop production skills and get behind the scenes of a top BBC drama."
