Yeo Valley Unveils Boy Band Spoof

Who knows whether it”s an effective way to sell dairy products… but for pure entertainment you have to hand it to Yeo Valley and ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty for their latest TV commercial.

Last year, BBH used ITV1‘;s X Factor ad breaks to air a 2-minute sing-along commercial featuring rapping farmers. This year they”ve gone one better, creating a ballad for a farmer boy band called The Churned. Funny, catchy and on-brand, it”s a million miles from The Wurzels and their combine harvester.

The ad, which is shot on location in Blagdon (home to Yeo Valley), broke during Saturday evening”s show but has already clocked up 133,000 views on YouTube. It”s early days – but it already looks on course to match the 2m views of last year”s ad.

The TV campaign is reckoned to have cost around £1.5m and is backed by some activity on Facebook. Users who like Yeo Valley”s Facebook page can enter a sing-a-long competition. The winner has the chance to appear in an ad during The X Factor Final.
