Pickles To Have Final Say On Pinewood Expansion

Pinewood Shepperton Studios this week finished the appeal process as it seeks to get approval for its high-profile Pinewood expansion plan. Initially rejected by South Buckinghamshire Council, a final decision will now be made by communities and local government Minister Eric Pickles.

Pinewood’s plan to build 1500 homes and a new network of movie sets has met resistance from residents. But arguing in favour of expansion, Pinewood commercial director Nick Smith said: "Project Pinewood’s streetscapes, with built-in power supply, fibre technology, camera angles and demountable street furniture, will deliver unparalleled cost advantages to producers and reduce the carbon footprint."

The appeal comes as property developer Peel Media looks set to acquire Pinewood Shepperton for around £96 million.
