Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly to star in Sky Original crime thriller
Under Salt Marsh will film this autumn in the UK
Kelly Reilly will star in Under Salt Marsh, a new Sky Original crime thriller from writer/director Claire Oakley and Little Door Productions.
Made in association with Sky Studios, the 6 x 60’ drama is set in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, a tight-knit community located between huge mountains and an encroaching sea. Reilly plays former detective-turned-teacher Jackie Ellis who, as a massive storm gathers out at sea, discovers the body of her young pupil, Cefin, seemingly drowned.
The tragedy reignites an unsolved cold case from three years before – the disappearance of Jackie’s niece Nessa.
Showrunner Oakley also exec produces alongside Little Door’s Elwen Rowlands and Sky Studios’ Megan Spanjian. The series producer is Scott Bassett; Oakley is lead director with Mary Nighy at the helm for Episodes 3 and 4. Other writers are Jonathan Harbottle and Nikita Lalwani.
Rowlands said; “It’s been a pleasure developing this series with the inspirational Claire Oakley. Sky Studios coming onboard has given the show a perfect home and now we have the hugely talented Kelly Reilly taking on the lead role – we couldn’t be happier.”
Meghan Lyvers, director of original series, Sky Studios UK&I, added; “Under Salt Marsh is a uniquely powerful drama which we are incredibly proud to support at Sky Studios. Claire Oakley is an exceptional creative talent who has crafted a deeply emotional and universal story which explores themes of loss, resilience, and community, all whilst pushing the boundaries of the crime thriller genre.”
