Wales locations for Bille August feature film
First World War drama A War of Their Own is currently set to shoot on location in Wales towards the end of this year with a Danish Oscar-winning director at the helm.
From Belgian production company Living Stone, the feature will be directed by Bille August, whose feature Pelle the Conqueror won the Palme d”Or at the 1988 Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in the same year.
August directs from a screenplay by the UK”s Kate Wood and Living Stone”s Martin Dewitte; the latter produces alongside Antonino Lombardo.
A War of Their Own centres on two young women, Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm, who leave England during the summer of 1914, joining all those going to war. When they return four years later from the Belgian front, they must come to terms with the horrors they have witnessed and the subsequent changes within themselves.
