Upton Park to host filming of hostage thriller

A new action feature is set to utilise Upton Park, the home ground of West Ham in east London.

Officially named the Boleyn Ground, the stadium will be de-commissioned as the Premier League team”s base at the end of the current season, as the Hammers relocate their HQ to the Olympic Stadium.

The future of the ground is now in the hands of property developers Gailliard, but first it is set to enjoy a starring role as the main location for Final Score, an action thriller due to start shooting in the summer.

The film tells the story of an armed gang that seizes a sports arena and the ex-soldier who has to tackle the dangerous ransom situation, with the added twist that among the crowd of 35,000 is the daughter of his fallen comrade.

The screenplay is by the Brothers Lynch (David and Keith) with Scott Mann lined up to direct.
Robert Jones and Wayne Marc Godfrey of The Fyzz Facility produce for the UK end of things, working alongside Marc Goldberg of Signature. Executive producers are Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier of Highland Film Group.

It is still a little early for HoDs to board, but PI subscribers should follow the project as we will return to this one as names are attached.

Jones, whose many credits include The Yellow Birds, The Harry Hill Movie and Trap for Cinderella, said: “To be able to stage such an ambitious story in a once-in-a-lifetime location provides incredible visual opportunities and incomparable production values. We are confident that this, along with an exciting director in Scott Mann and compelling character roles, will attract a cast that makes for a real event movie, punching far above its weight in terms of audience appeal.”
