UKTV gets shiny new studio
London-based UKTV is due to unveil a high-spec production facility at its headquarters in Hammersmith.
The 4,500 sq ft space will house edit suites, a filming studio, a green screen studio, voiceover booths and a screening room, all aiming to facilitate the production of over 2,500 on-air promos and 700 pieces of navigational content a year, while creating 12 new jobs.
Bringing the previously outsourced creative services in-house will, according to CEO Darren Childs, “allow us to supercharge our creativity and expand our expertise”.
Interior design and architecture studio PENSON created the facility, with NWA construction- managing. It mainly uses the mezzanine floor of the HQ, reducing the broadcaster’s overall cost base and therefore, it is hoped, releasing more money towards production investment. The facility will be officially unveiled on 1 July.
UKTV has officially become the fastest growing broadcaster in the UK, having recently announced its strongest year ever in terms of ratings, revenue and profit. It also recently announced several new commissions: its first three original scripted comedies for Gold: Henry IX; Marley’s Ghosts and Bull, and Jason Manford’s The Money Pit for Dave. ÂÂ
