The Crow flies into Pinewood Wales

A major big screen remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow is set to start shooting at Pinewood’s shiny new facility near Cardiff this summer.

The project certainly carries a lot of Hollywood heft: it comes from LA-based shingle Relativity Media with producers including Ryan Kavanaugh and Edward R. Pressman, while film moguls the Weinstein brothers are on board to executive produce.

Corin Hardy directs from a screenplay by Nick Cave and Cliff Dorfman, based on the original comic book series by James O’Barr.

From 18 March, subscribers to Production Intelligence will find details of crucial hires such as the UK line producer, production manager, casting director and production designer.

The news about the project came as First Minister Carwyn Jones visited Pinewood Wales, which is also currently hosting major US pilot The Bastard Executioner. The minister said: “The creative industries are flourishing in Wales and the opening of Pinewood Studio follows on from several successful productions which have been filmed in Wales recently.

“It is excellent news and an important step in the ongoing growth of our creative Industries sector.”

Production Intelligence is our extensive online database of advance and archive productions, currently with nearly 6,000 titles listed.
