Stephen Fry’s The Hippopotamus gears up

The big screen adaptation of Stephen Fry’s novel, The Hippopotamus, is gearing up for a late summer shoot in the UK.

Roger Allam leads the cast as the washed up poet and one-time theatre critic Ted Wallace who spends his days drinking in a Soho media club until one day his goddaughter invites him to Swafford Hall, a country manor where there have been a number of miraculous healings.

Sam Neill also stars in the comedy, which is from the Electric Shadow Company. The shingle was founded by John Jencks, Jay Taylor and Alexa Seligman in 2008. Jencks directs from a screenplay by Tom Hodgson and Blanche McIntyre.
