Red Planet Pictures move on major drama

Red Planet Pictures are in pre-production on a major drama for Sky 1, Hooten & The Lady, with filming set to begin in November.

PI subscribers will know that we have had the project listed for over a month, including the names of the casting director, line producer and series producer. Apart from a few more HoDs, the majority of the crew is to be sourced in South Africa; filming takes place in Cape Town and Rome.

The drama comprises 8 x 60 from showrunner Tony Jordan, working alongside a writing team including co-creators James Payne, Sarah Phelps, Jeff Povey and Richard Zajdlic. Caroline Levy is series producer; the lead director is Colin Teague. The lengthy shoot begins in mid-November.

Starring Michael Landes as adventurer Hooten and Ophelia Lovibond as Lady Alexandra Lindo-Parker of the British Museum, the series centres on the pair’s intrepid efforts to track down legendary treasures, including the lost tomb of Alexander the Great and the Buddha’s missing scroll.

Jordan said of the hefty project: “This is an incredibly ambitious show which I hope will be appointment to view television for a discerning drama audience on Sky 1. Seat of your pants adventure is the glue but Hooten & the Lady is all about these two amazing characters. We will be bringing a movie of the week to our audience with the highest production values and we are elated to have found Michael and Ophelia to bring our stories to life.”
