Real SFX has officially been named a 2025 BAFTA albert-approved supplier for 2025.

The Wales-based special effects company was founded in 2009 by Danny Hargreaves, and has worked on projects including Doctor Who, Havoc, Peaky Blinders, Young Sherlock and Fool Me Once. It has workshops at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, as well as in Manchester and Birmingham.

The recognition by albert, the BAFTA-owned and industry-backed authority on sustainability in the screen sector, authenticates Real SFX’s work to embed greener practices across all areas of production.

“At Real SFX, sustainability isn’t just a box to tick — it’s integral to how we design, deliver, and evolve our services,” said Carmela Carrubba, director of Real SFX.

“For clients, working with an albert-approved supplier means partnering with a team that prioritises environmental responsibility at every level. As sustainability becomes a key part of production planning, we’re proud to deliver high-impact results while helping productions meet their green goals.”

Real SFX runs the KIT4CREW programme, launched with support from Bectu and CULT Cymru, that repurposes surplus workwear for the creative industries. Other efforts include investments in alternative power sources such as the Green Voltage e-generator and promotion of HVO fuel as a low-carbon on-set alternative.

Real SFX’s internal strategy to nurture a greener culture includes initiatives like meat-free days, the integration of electric vehicles into its fleet, travel mapping, and the adoption of virtual meetings to cut down on travel emissions.
