Paddington in Peru begins production

PaddingtonThe third big screen outing for the iconic little bear, Paddington in Peru, begins production today, 24 July, with shooting split between the UK (London) and Colombia, the latter doubling for Peru.

There have been some cast changes for the latest feature, as Ben Whishaw (voice), Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters. Imelda Staunton and Jim Broadbent are joined by Emily Mortimer, Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas.

Rachel Zegler was also officially announced as playing a new supporting character, but posted an image on social media last week that she was heading back to NYC, waving goodbye to Paddington ‘sooner than planned’, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike; it is unclear yet as to how/when she will be able to re-join.

Mark Burton, Paul King and Simon Farnaby created the story for the third film, with a screenplay by James Lamont, Burton and Jon Foster. David Heyman and Rosie Alison produce for Heyday Films with French production and distrubution giant StudioCanal once again on board to co-produce.

The director of Paddington in Peru is Dougal Wilson, best-known for his work on music videos and commercials, having previously produced ads for Apple, Ikea, the BBC and Amnesty International.

Perhaps the most high-profile of Wilson’s credits are several of John Lewis’ Christmas commercials, including Monty the Penguin and The Long Wait, and We’re the Superhumans for the C4 Paralympics coverage.
