Filming on the second series of Our Girl is currently in pre-production with principal photography due to get underway in mid-March.

A large part of the shoot will take place in South Africa – doubling for Kenya where Series 2 is set – with the main UK location being Manchester.

Michelle Keegan stars this time around as Corporal Georgie Lane, medic and soldier with Two Section on a posting to the Kenya/Somalia border. The show”s creator and writer Tony Grounds is on board to executive produce along with Caroline Skinner.

The drama comprises a 5 x 60 run, made in-house by BBC Drama for delivery to BBC One. The first series, which starred Lacey Turner as medic Molly Dawes, was a ratings hit for the channel with the preceding single pilot episode drawing a consolidated audience figure of over 6 million.
