Irons and Kurylenko star in The Correspondence
Principal photography is now underway on Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Correspondence (La Corrispondenza) starring Jeremy Irons and Olga Kurylenko.
Tornatore directs from his own screenplay, which centres on the love affair between a young female university student (Kurylenko) and her astrophysics lecturer (Irons).
Edinburgh and York provide the UK locations for the film, which during the 10 week shoot will also take in Trentino, Piedmont and Alto Adige in Italy. The director is surrounded by familiar faces on the feature – apart from his regular collaborator, composer Ennio Morricone, he is working alongside production house Paco Cinematografica, Warner Bros Italy and uMedia International. The three companies were also behind Tornatore’s The Best Offer with Geoffrey Rush, which went on to win six David di Donatello awards.
The film marks the first foray into filming in the UK for the Cinema Paradiso director, who is working with a mainly Italian crew. UK hires, including the location manager, are listed on Production Intelligence.
