James McAvoy begins filming Speak No Evil

James McAvoyFilming gets underway this week (w/c 22 May) on Speak No Evil, starring James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis; a brief stint shoots in Croatia before moving to the UK.

The feature is an adaptation of the Danish psychological horror film/social satire Gæsterne (The Guests) that centres on a couple invited to stay at a holiday house, where the planned idyllic weekend soon becomes a nightmare as the hosts tests their guests in an escalating nightmare…

James Watkins has adapted the new, English-language version based on the original screenplay by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup; he also directs.

Speak No Evil sees a return to the horror genre for Watkins, who made his feature debut with Eden Lake in 2008 and went on to direct The Woman in Black in 2012. His TV credits include Black Mirror, McMafia and most recently, The Ipcress File.

McAvoy recently finished filming star-studded feature The Book of Clarence in Italy, with LaKeith Stanfield, Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anna Diop, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
