Two more feature-length episodes of Maigret are in the pipeline for ITV with Rowan Atkinson reprising his role of the eponymous French detective.

The first run of the period drama also comprised 2 x 120 films, one of which, Maigret Sets a Trap was aired on Easter Monday, and garnered 5.7 million viewers. The second, Maigret”s Dead Man, does not yet have a transmission date.

The two new episodes will be based on Georges Simenon’s Night at the Crossroads and Maigret in Montmartre. Shooting will once again be based mostly in Budapest, doubling for 1950s Paris.

Stewart Harcourt returns as the writer of the first episode; PI subscribers can log in for more on the second series of Maigret, including the line producer, producer, production designer and executive producers.
