Guernsey Film Seminar: London, 6th March
Guernsey and UK industry experts will be presenting at a seminar in London next month to showcase the Island”s credentials in providing a ‘one-stop shop” for coordinating the financial aspects involved with film making.
The event, titled ‘Film Wrapped Up: The Guernsey Advantage – because life should be simple”, is being held at 6pm, Tuesday 6 March at Coutts in London. (440 Strand, London WC2R 0QS). Prior registration is necessary, and there will be food provided.
It is being hosted by Guernsey Finance – the promotional agency for the Island”s finance industry, in conjunction with Guernsey Film.
Guernsey Film was formed three years ago by finance industry professionals and representatives from the Guernsey Government to act as a centre of excellence for the collective infrastructure and expertise available in the Island to provide financial structuring solutions for films.
The group comprises a series of individuals from different firms who have expertise across the various potential financial aspects of making a film, including banking, investment, funds, insurance, intellectual property, law, tax and IT.
Richard Garrod, Co-Chairman of Guernsey Film, said: “Guernsey Film held a very successful launch event in London towards the end of 2010. More than 70 members of the film community, including producers, directors and media/entertainment lawyers, accountants and tax advisers came along to get a taste for the Guernsey Film concept. Now we are going to provide an update on what the Island can offer and in particular, by looking in more depth at the potential structuring options and both the legal and tax implications of those arrangements.”
