George Clooney-starrer Jay Kelly had its unit base at Farnborough International Studios when filming took place last year.

The whole site was shut down for the Netflix production, that used 16,000 sqm as a full unit base for the 150-vehicle-strong shoot over two days in April 2024.

Location filming took place across a range of local Hampshire backdrops, including woodlands and urban aviation sites. Shooting also took place in NYC, Italy and London.

Jay Kelly stars Clooney as the eponymous movie star with Adam Sandler as his devoted manager Ron, as they embark on an unexpectedly profound journey. The coming-of-age comedy drama recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will receive its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2025 on 10 October.

It was produced and directed by Noah Baumbach from a screenplay co-written with Emily Mortimer; Amy Pascal and David Heyman produced via respective Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films respectively.

Farnborough International Studios is the only filming complex in Hampshire, and has hosted shoots for We Live In Time, MobLand, Ghostbusters – Frozen Empire, Fast & Furious – Hobbs & Shaw and Inside Man.

The facility has more than 1,000,000 sq ft of external space for unit, crowd and crew, with up to 3,500 parking spaces, and two purpose-built, 22,000 sq ft sound stages as well as more than 215,000 sq ft of additional indoor shooting space.

It also houses four 5,000 sq ft workshops, contemporary production offices and ancillary spaces. For more on Farnborough International Studios, take a look at our Spotlight.
