The six-month shoot on the drama began in early July last year, with the production based at Space Studios Manchester. It also filmed on location in Liverpool and Greater Manchester, doubling the backdrops for the story settings of 19th century Dublin and New York.

The story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the company.

House of Guinness is produced by Kudos and Nebulastar and executive produced by Knight, Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland, and Ivana Lowell. Cahal Bannon is series producer, Howard Burch is producer and the directors are Shankland and Mounia Aki.

Anthony Boyle plays Arthur Guinness; Louis Partridge is Edward Guinness; Emily Fairn plays Anne Plunket (née Guinness) and Fionn O’Shea is Benjamin Guinness; the large supporting cast includes James Norton and Dervla Kirwan.

When the series was announced, Netflix VP content Anne Mensah said the drama has “all the power of Peaky Blinders but the scale and the sweep of a true family saga.”
