Filming begins on Jean Charles de Menezes drama
The latest drama from seasoned writer and exec producer Jeff Pope has begun filming in London for Disney+.
The limited series, Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes (w/t) is produced by Pope’s Etta Pictures, part of ITV Studios.
Paul Andrew Williams directs, Kwadjo Dajan produces and Disney’s Lee Mason is executive producer.
The drama is set in the immediate aftermath of London bombings in 2005, and centres on the manhunt for a group of would-be terrorists and the tragic killing of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, after he is mistaken as a suspect.
De Menezes’ parents and other relatives are among those serving as consultants for the series.
Pope is well-known for his dramatisations based on real-life events and people: his four-part series about Jimmy Savile is currently airing on BBC One and his biopic of Cary Grant, Archie, is due to tx on ITV soon.
