Filming has just got underway on Ludwig, a new comedy detective drama starring David Mitchell for BBC One.

The 6 x 60’ series is made by Big Talk Studios in association with That Mitchell And Webb Company.

Written and created by Mark Brotherhood, it centres on John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor (Mitchell) whose identical twin, James, disappears off the face of the earth. John then takes over his brother’s identity in a quest to discover his whereabouts; Anna Maxwell Martin co-stars with Dipo Ola, Gerran Howell, Izuka Hoyle, Dylan Hughes and Dorothy Atkinson among the supporting cast.

Ludwig (first-look, pictured above with Cambridge’s Bridge of Sighs in the background) is executive produced by Kenton Allen, Brotherhood, Saurabh Kakkar, Mitchell, Kathryn O’Connor and Chris Sussman; the producer is Georgie Fallon. Robert McKillop and Jill Robertson direct.

David Mitchell said: “I’m delighted to be working in a genre of television that I have loved ever since, at the age of 10, I started watching the Miss Marple adaptations, starring Joan Hickson, with my parents. Sometimes the only thing that can bring the whole family together is murder.”
