Film London, the capital’;s film and media agency, has announced details of a number of blockbuster films shooting in the capital.

At an event co-hosted with the Mayor of London and London & Partners, Film London’;s Chief Executive Adrian Wootton said Fast and the Furious 6, Ridley Scott‘;s The Counselor, Kenneth Branagh’;s Jack Ryan and Kick-Ass 2 are shooting in London in the second half of 2012, creating thousands of jobs and bringing vital investment to the capital.

Fast and the Furious 6 starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson began shooting last week. Producer Neal H. Moritz, whose credits include the successful The Fast & The Furious franchise, The Green Hornet and Jack the Giant Killer (also partly London-shot), was at the event to outline some of the ambitious and dramatic set pieces taking in iconic London locations including King’;s Cross, Wembley and Canary Wharf. “We’;re excited to bring the next chapter of The Fast & The Furious franchise to one of the world’;s most amazing cities,” said Moritz. “The locations that are available only in London play an integral part of our story, and we’;re grateful to the people of the city for welcoming the production as we film.”

Ridley Scott is in London in production on The Counselor, with an all star cast including Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz and Javier Bardem. Film London has been supporting the film, which is successfully shooting in the capital during the Olympic Games. Executive producer Mark Huffam (Prometheus, Mamma Mia) said: “Film London’;s support has been invaluable in our negotiations with landmark locations in the capital and we are grateful for their assistance in ensuring the smooth running of the shoot.”

Other films currently in production in London are Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie based at Pinewood Studios and Richard Curtis‘; About Time, starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson, while Dom Hemingway, starring Jude Law and Richard E. Grant, is one of a number of other big budget films in pre production. Films recently finished in the capital include the latest Bond film Skyfall, Ron Howard’;s epic action-drama Rush, Tom Hooper‘;s follow up to the The King’;s Speech, musical epic Les Misérables, and thriller Trance from director Danny Boyle, a film which was in production while Boyle produced his acclaimed Olympics Opening Ceremony.
