Film London calls for applications to markets
Film London is calling for submissions to the ninth Production Finance Market (PFM) and the third Micro Market for low-budget European filmmakers.
The two unique events, which run simultaneously on 13 and 14 October 2015 in association with the BFI London Film Festival, are the UK’s only film financing markets.
The PFM is for more experienced producers who are seeking to pitch projects budgeted at €1m and above to financiers from around the globe. Launched in 2007, the event has since seen 60 projects receive funding and subsequently go into production. Last year’s PFM attracted a variety of different titles which overall held a collective production value of over €235m.
The Micro Market is a similar entity, but aimed at producers who are pitching projects valued at up to €1m. Companies that have invested in projects previously include: Ingenious Media, Metrodome Distribution and Creative England. The Micro Market also offers emerging filmmakers advice and training on several aspects of the industry from trusted film and TV experts.
Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: “PFM and Micro Market exemplify our commitment to bringing together ideas, talent and finance while solidifying London’s position as a key global sales hub.
“PFM’s status as a must-attend event for key international players is unquestionable, and this year will doubtless see Micro Market continue its exciting upward trajectory, bringing more European producers on board and cementing its reputation as a key player in the fertile low budget sector while equipping emerging filmmakers with the skills they need to succeed.”
An extra wrinkle added to this year’s events is the partnership formed with the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), Film London’s reported first true US collaboration to support UK producers.
With the events seemingly getting much bigger, this year seems to be a good a time as any to attend.ÂÂ
