DCD Media Takes Over Sequence Post-Production
The UK independent production and distribution group DCD Media has taken over the brand, assets and management of UK post-production company Sequence, thus adding a new activity to the range of its businesses.
Sequence, whose recent clients have included All3Media, Tiger Aspect, Mentorn, Sunset & Vine and DCD itself, ran into trouble at the end of 2011 and was unable to continue funding the business independently. However DCD”s acquisition means the company will now be “recruiting new staff, updating in-house technical facilities and putting new infrastructure in place”.
As a result of the acquisition, DCD Media says it will benefit from “an effective in-house post department capable of servicing each of their production companies with the highest level of post and channel delivery”.
Sequence Founder Ben Foakes said: “Despite our recent circumstances, we are very pleased to have been recognised by such an established group for our quality of work. We have lacked capital investment and business support in the past, but will now benefit from a team of specialists to backup our creative team”.
Speaking about the future, he said Sequence would work for both DCD companies and third parties: “I am very pleased to be working with September, Prospect, Rize USA and the entire group of (DCD) production companies. Many of the systems we put in place and trial with the DCD companies will subsequently benefit our clients across the broadcast industry as a whole.”
For his part, Sequence Head of Production Kevin Chapman, said: “It has been a difficult process but we feel this route was ultimately the best option and we are excited and enthusiastic about the future of the facility, with significant backing on the business side and the same front of house quality of customer service”.
David Green, CEO, DCD Media added: “We are delighted to bring Sequence”s talent and assets into the group in a move to boost our in-house production capabilities and deliver added benefit across our operations”.
