Danny Baker’s autobiography on the small screen
Writer and broadcaster Danny Baker’s autobiography, Going to Sea in a Sieve, is to be televised for BBC Two.Â
ITV Studios is behind the eight episode adaptation called Cradle to Grave; a nine week shoot begins next week. The series will chart the early years of the chirpy Baker – from his ‘job’ selling  boxes of stolen records aged 12 to working as a music critic at the now legendary NME. Â
Baker’s father, known as ‘Spud’, was a well-known local character who, according to recent press reports, will be portrayed by Peter Kay in the new TV version. Â
Baker has penned the screenplay along with lauded TV scribe Jeff Pope – the pair go back a long way having worked together years ago on The Six O’Clock Show.Â
