C5 doc puts Ross Kemp behind bars
Ross Kemp will go into some of the world’s most dangerous prisons in a major new documentary commission from Channel 5.
The 8 x 60 series Ross Kemp: 72 Hours In… (w/t) is a co-production from Chalkboard TV and Freshwater Films and is executive produced by Tom Popay for Chalkboard and Ross Kemp for Freshwater Films. It is the first C5 doc for Kemp.
Filming this summer, the series follows Kemp as he goes behind bars in some of the world’s most high-security prisons, housing serial killers, gang leaders and drug lords, as he reveals what life is like in these high-risk environments, and finds out what it is like for those whose challenging job it is to try to run the institutions and keep the peace.
Tom Popay, creative director & executive producer, Chalkboard, said: “We are excited to be working with Ross and Channel 5 on Ross Kemp: 72 Hours In… (w/t). This show is a rare opportunity to enter some of the most notorious prisons across the world. We’ll pull back the curtain to show the inner workings of these complex institutions, and share what it’s like to be an inmate inside them.”
Kemp added: “I’ve been to some of the toughest prisons in the UK and all around the world. I thought I’d experienced it all, and taken every adventure, but this time we’re going even further than before! I’m looking forward to my first documentary series with Channel 5 and taking you all on this journey with me.”
