BBC opens comedy short-films submissions

The BBC has opened for submissions its comedy short-films scheme, to experiment, develop and showcase new and established talent.

There are two strands in the programme, both open to UK production companies only.

Short films – this strand is designed to give writers, producers and directors an opportunity to bring their comedy ideas to life and be showcased on BBC platforms. Submissions are welcome from both established creatives and new talent, or those looking to move sideways into developing new comedy collaborations.

Character development – this is for non-TX and low cost development, aimed at writer/performers to try things out away from audience pressures and broadcast expectation. This is a space for writer/performers to flex their muscles, and they should be seen as a low-risk way to develop comedy characters.

BBC Comedy teams in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales are involved in the scheme. For more details on both opportunities, how to apply and what must be included in your pitch, click here.
