BBC 3 Invests In Original Web Comedy

 

BBC 3 will consolidate its reputation as the launchpad for new British comedy this week by releasing seven web-based comedies via bbc.co.uk/bbcthree.
 
The Feed My Funny productions include sketch show formats like For The Win and Dawson Bros Funtime, hidden camera stunts in Impractical Jokers, a mockumentary about a pirate radio station in People Just Do Nothing, a vehicle for new stand up Imran Yusuf, Alison Jackson”s spoof celebrity gossip show Celebrity Bitchslap News and surreal silent comedy from The TapeFace Tapes.
 
Impractical Jokers is produced by Yalli Productions and executive produced by Karl Warner; For The Win is produced by Matt Stronge, directed by John Hopkins and executive produced by Stephen McCrum; Dawson Bros Funtime is produced by Will Saunders and executive produced by Jo Sargent; Celebrity Bitchslap News is produced by Jonathan Levi and Alison Jackson for iEntertainment and executive produced for the BBC by Sean Hancock; People Just Do Nothing is produced by Jon Petrie for Rough Cut TV and Executive Produced by Chris Sussman; The Tapeface Tapes is produced by Jack Cheshire and executive produced by Will Saunders and The Imran Yusuf Show is produced by Brown Eyed Boy and executive produced by Kristian Smith.
 
Commenting on the web comedies, BBC 3 controller Zai Bennett said: “BBC 3 is the channel that nurtures new comedy. We already invest in loads of online comedy shorts for new talent, writers and directors. We are delighted to now commission seven full length comedies for the web.”
