Balloon preps TV dramas for late summer

Balloon Entertainment, the independent production company founded by Skins writer Bryan Elsley and comedian Harry Enfield, is working on two dramas which are both currently eyeing a late summer shoot.

Kiss Me First, first listed on Production Intelligence in January, is now looking towards a September shoot with a casting director and line producer now confirmed.

The thriller is written by Elsley, who also wrote Dates, the shingle”s first commission for Channel 4, and is based on Lottie Moggach”s YA novel of the same name. It is made in conjunction with Kindle Entertainment.

The 6 x 60 centres on lonely teen Leila and her friendship with the much cooler Tess. Things take a sinister turn when Tess disappears and Leila takes on her identity. The drama is for delivery to E4 in the UK with Netflix handling overseas distribution.

Balloon is also developing Clique with an eye to shooting late summer in Edinburgh. Set at the city”s university, the 6 x 45 for BBC Three follows childhood friends Georgia and Holly as they begin their student life.
