BAFTA Crafties: The Mill Picks Up VFX Gong

Mill TV and Film is celebrating this week after picking up this year”s BAFTA Craft Award for Visual Effects in recognition of its work on Merlin Series 3 for BBC1/Shine.

Will Cohen, Group Director of TV and Film said: “The team here are all elated to win for their work on Merlin. The standard of work in our category gets higher every year so it is a real honour for us to be recognised by BAFTA”.

The ceremony took place on Sunday 8 May at The Brewery in the City of London. Other winners included: Annie Symons for Costume Design on Worried About The Boy (BBC2/Red); Catherine Scoble for Make Up & Hair on This Is England ”86 (Channel 4/Warp Films); Nick Hall, Luc Houselander, Simon Brickle and Jody Smith for Digital Creativity on The Million Pound Drop Live (Channel 4/Endemol/Monterosa); Jason Savage for Editing Factual on Human Planet Arctic (BBC One/BBC Wales/BBC Bristol); and Charlie Phillips for Editing Fiction on Sherlock (BBC One/Hartswood Films).

Other awards went to Will Edwards, Doug Allan, Matt Norman for Photography Factual on Human Planet and Alan Almond for Photography & Lighting: Fiction on South Riding (BBC One/BBC Productions/Masterpiece). Tom Bowyer came out on top in Production design for Misfits (E4/Clerkenwell Films).
