Cameras will be rolling in a couple of weeks on Northern Soul, from Stubborn Heart Productions in association with Baby Cow Productions. 

 

The film centres on two boys whose world is changed forever when they discover black American soul, which had a massive impact on a whole generation in the 1970s, spawning the more specific ‘northern soul”. 

 

The six week shoot is expected to run from mid July until late August, with locations including Manchester, Blackburn, Bolton and Bury. Elaine Constantine directs from her own screenplay; the cast includes Lisa Stansfield and Steve Coogan.
