A Street Cat Named Bob prepares to shoot
Principal photography starts late next month in London on the big screen adaptation of A Street Cat Named Bob, the story of a homeless busker’s road to recovery from addiction – with the help of a stray feline.
James Bowen’s autobiography has been a worldwide hit since it was first published in 2012. Co-authored by Gary Jenkins, it recounts the real life events of Bowen’s years spent busking in central London with Bob, the ginger street cat.
Bowen had been battling heroin addiction and was on methadone treatment but as man and cat bonded, the busker says, taking care of the animal gave him something else to focus on, and slowly he managed to come through his addiction.
Roger Spottiswoode is calling the shots from a screenplay by Tim John, with Luke Treadaway playing Bowen. Ruta Gedmintas co-stars in the feature, which will be filmed across various London locations.
The film is produced by Adam Rolston;Â further details on PI include the studio, shoot dates, casting director, production manager, location manager and line producer.
