The Production Guild of Great Britain has appointed a new chair, Guy Barker, with immediate effect.

Barker (pictured) has been a vital player at the Production Guild for some time: as a board member he has been instrumental in growing the organisation’s remit to meet the demands of the burgeoning film and TV production industry.

As a production accountant, Barker’s background is in financial control, with recent high-profile credits including King Arthur: Knights of the Round Table, Made in Dagenham and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Importantly in the current global production landscape, he has international experience too, having worked on titles such as Red 2 and Fred Claus.

Barker tales the chair vacated by Kevin Trehy, senior vice president physical production of Warner Bros. Productions who becomes joint vice-chair with producer and regular Guy Ritchie collaborator Steve Clark-Hall (The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Sherlock Holmes). Both men have also been closely involved with the guild for many years

Barker said of his new role: “As the UK’s film and television production sector continues to grow and excel in producing high quality and successful home-grown and international productions so does The Production Guild’s role in actively supporting its members and the production sector. I look forward to picking up the baton from Kevin Trehy whose commitment and guidance has been key to the growth and success of the Guild, its members and ultimately the industry.”

To complete the reshuffle, Mark Cooper, who previously held the vice-chair position, rejoins the board with Lara Sargent, one of the directors at Sargent-Disc, now in place as newly appointed treasurer for the guild.
