Drama Oil to film in London
Drama series Oil will film on location in London, as well as in Beirut, the Persian Gulf and New York to tell the story of efforts to claim the Gulf’s natural resources in the 1970s.
Nevision is partnering with Lionsgate UK on the eight-part drama that is in development with writers Alan Whiting, Matthew Faulk and Mark Skeet.
The writers are also executive producers on the show with Lionsgate’s Steve November and Sarah Conroy, as well as Neil Zeiger and Sharon Bloom from the Nevision team.
“Lionsgate is the perfect partner for Nevision to develop and produce this series,” said Zeiger.
“Alan, Mark and Matthew have such a strong vision and we share Steve’s and Sarah’s enthusiasm for it. We very much look forward to working with them to bring the world of Oil to the screen.”
Production Intelligence subscribers can follow Oil now for updates on key crew and filming dates as we get them in the coming months.
Abu Dhabi is known internationally as the production centre of the Persian Gulf and the only city in the region to offer formal filming incentive support. As such, it’s a likely eventual filming location for Oil. Beirut is not known as a global production hub but Lebanon does have a thriving regional TV and commercials industry.
