Media Production Show preview
Next week sees the fourth Media Production Show, held on 11-12 June at Olympia London.
Following the success of last year”s event, which saw 5,300 visitors come through the doors, the 2019 event continues to showcase the best tech and creativity behind content creation.
There is a wide range of seminars and panel discussions being held across various venues within the exhibition space; here we take a look at some of just a few of the themes under discussion at the Production and Lighting Theatre.
Day One – 11 June – sees a highly topical session called Planning an International Production with FilmLA president Paul Audley, Barclays relationship director Tom Dods, founder and CEO of Knockout Production Services Kenton Oxley, and Elisa Viihde executive producer Alan Sim.
Also on Day One is a Masterclass on Production Designing. Renowned production designers Aaron Haye, Sonja Klaus and Jamie Lapsley, who between them have worked on such high-profile projects as Bohemian Rhapsody, Terminator: Dark Fate and Trust Me. Alexandra Zeevalkink of MBI’s Broadcast Intelligence brand chairs the session.
Production safety is the subject of a session on Day Two – 12 June. A vital part of any project, the panel discussion – called Cars, Bikes and Far Away Places: 3 Production Safety Case Studies – will include insight and expertise from Frith Tiplady of Moonage Pictures, Howard Ella of Mammoth Screen and Jenny Stephenson of Znak & Co.
Toby Stewart, MD, senior technician and company director of Artem, will be speaking at a session called Physical Special Effects in a Digital World. Stewart has worked on numerous commercials, film and television projects and designed and supervised the effects for BBC One”s Bodyguard. He also blew up a moving bus on Lambeth Bridge for feature film The Foreigner.
