Talent development scheme deadline
The John Brabourne Awards (JBA) is a talent development programme for those working behind the scenes in film and television.
The scheme aims to provide a stepping stone for individuals who are talented and driven but who have faced obstacles such as financial hardship, accident or illness, in their career path.
JBA recipients can receive awards of between £1,000 and £5,000 to go towards developing their careers in film and TV. In the past, this has included financial assistance with: production and development finance, post-production, expenses including childcare, tuition fees and secondments.
The awards are made to individuals as opposed to projects, teams or organisations.
Recent alumni of the JBAs includeToby Fell-Holden, whose short film Balcony is currently available on BBC iPlayer and has won numerous awards including a Crystal Bear at Berlinale, and writer/director Kat Wood, who this year shot her debut short starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and whose feature debut as writer-director was recently greenlit for production.
